Mayr-Melnhof Packaging continues site optimization, closure of MMP Hungaria
Closure of the folding carton production in Hungary – Business volumes will be transferred to MMP’s high performance facilities.
In Hungary the folding carton facility, MM Packaging Hungaria, Budaörs, will be closed by year-end 2005. In concentrating the production of the current business volume on high performance facilities, MM Packaging pursues further improvement of competitiveness. MM Packaging Hungaria employs approximately 50 employees and converts some 4,000 tons of cartonboard annually.
Closure costs in 2005 will be covered by the sale of the real estate in 2006. At 22 European facilities Mayr-Melnhof Packaging converts an annual total of approximately 500,000 tons of cartonboard into folding cartons for the consumer goods industry.
