1950The installation of the first modern cartonboard mill in Frohnleiten, Austria, marked the beginning of the industrial board production.
1952Entrance into waste-paper business.
1959Start up of folding carton production.
1974Hirschwang Karton becomes the second Austrian mill of the MM-Group.
1984 The acquisition of FS-Karton in Germany was the first step towards the Group's internationalisation.
1994IPO of Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG at the Vienna Stock Exchange. Issue of 4.0 million new shares.
Beginning of a rapid expansion in the packaging business.

Acquisition of the cigarette carton printing plant from R.J. Reynolds in Trier, Germany.


Mayr-Melnhof and Kellogg agree on a long-term supply contract for the supply of cartonboard and folding cartons.

Acquisition of the Slovenian board mill Kolicevo Karton.

Sale of the majority of the German recycling operations. Dissolution of the Recycling Division and integration of the remaining waste paper companies into the Cartonboard Division.

1999The rebuilding of board machine III in the Frohnleiten mill exceeds high expectations.
2000Combination of the folding carton production in Vienna.
Closure of the English cartonboard plant Colthrop; sale of the English recycling business

Acquisition of the German board mill Gruber+Weber Karton, Gernsbach.

Acquisition of the German specialized packaging plant Schilling, Heilbronn.
